Corporate affairs refers to role of managing relationships between internal and external stakeholders, including policymakers, investors, employees, regulators, NGOs, and the media. The role of a corporate affairs director also includes protecting a company's reputation, and so his or her activities will often be linked to corporate social responsibility (CSR), sponsorship, and community involvement initiatives. Managers and executives involved in corporate affairs need to be strategic thinkers, effective communicators, and cultivate strong relationships with the CEO and board, as well as journalists and policymakers.
